Counselor Queue

The Counselor Queue lists students who need counselor attention, sorted by priority. It is the starting point for counselors beginning their day — a clear, ordered list of who to see next.

Accessible to: Counselors, Administrators

Caution: The Counselor Queue is strictly staff-only. It never appears in student or parent views, and the flag count is not visible to students anywhere in the system.

Each row in the queue shows:

  • Student name
  • Flag type — the category of concern (see flag types below)
  • Priority — Urgent, Standard, or Low
  • Date flagged — when the flag was set

The queue is sorted by priority first, then by date flagged within each priority level.

Flag typeWhat it means
Academic concernA profile-behavior mismatch that suggests the student may be working against their natural engagement style
Social concernIndicators that the student may be struggling with peer or group dynamics
Disengagement signalLow activity or completion patterns suggesting withdrawal
Counselor check-inA general flag for a scheduled or overdue counselor conversation
OtherA manually set flag with a counselor note attached

Click any student row to open their Student Profile directly. The queue position and flag context are shown at the top of the profile when you arrive from the queue.

When you open a student from the queue, you may be prompted to enter a purpose flow — a short structured sequence that guides the counselor interaction. Available flows include:

  • Triage support needs — assess urgency and identify next steps
  • Choose course of study — help the student explore paths aligned with their NatureTypes
  • Review disengagement — understand what may be causing low engagement

Purpose flows are optional. You can dismiss the prompt and go directly to the full profile at any time.

After completing a counselor check-in, you can mark the flag as resolved from the student profile page. Resolved flags are removed from the active queue but remain in the student’s history.

Only counselors and administrators can set or resolve flags. Teachers cannot flag students or view the queue.

The queue is empty. Is something wrong?

An empty queue means no students are currently flagged. This is normal if your school is in early onboarding or if no flags have been set yet.

How are flags set?

Counselors and administrators can manually set a flag from any student’s profile. Some flags are set automatically by the system based on profile patterns or engagement signals.

Can a student tell they have been flagged?

No. Flags and the queue are never visible to students or parents in any part of the system.
