Parent & Student Bill of Rights
Your rights and our commitments regarding your child’s data in the MN School Dashboard.
This Bill of Rights is required by New York Education Law § 2-d. If you have questions about your child’s data, contact your school’s designated privacy officer first.
Your rights
Your child’s data will not be sold. MNI does not sell student personally identifiable information (PII) to any third party.
Your child’s data will not be used for advertising. Student data is not used to advertise to students, parents, or anyone else. It is used only to deliver the educational service the school has contracted for.
You have the right to inspect your child’s data. Parents and eligible students (age 18+) may request to review the data MNI holds about their child by contacting the school. MNI will provide the school with a copy within 14 days of a verified request.
You have the right to request correction of inaccurate data. If data MNI holds about your child is inaccurate, you may request a correction through the school. MNI will correct or delete the data within 14 days of a verified request.
You have the right to request deletion of your child’s data. You may request that MNI delete your child’s data by contacting the school. MNI will complete deletion within 14 days of a verified written request from the school on your behalf.
You will be notified of a breach. If student PII is breached, MNI will notify the school within 7 calendar days of confirming the breach. The school will notify affected parents and students in accordance with NY Education Law § 2-d and its own notification policies.
Data is used only for educational purposes. Your child’s data is used only to provide the MN School Dashboard service — student profiles, counselor support, career exploration, and class reporting. It is not used for any commercial purpose.
Data is not used to train AI. Student data is not used to train, fine-tune, or improve any artificial intelligence model.
AI does not make decisions about your child. The MN School Dashboard includes an AI assistant that helps school staff use the dashboard. It does not receive your child’s name, ID, or personal data, and it does not make any decisions about placement, discipline, diagnosis, or support.
Data MNI does not collect: Government ID numbers · medical or health records · disciplinary records · financial information · biometric data · location data · free-text personal narratives · parent contact information · grades or academic records.
